We find today people arguing that there is no death penalty in Islam. Their argument is baseless and aims to change Islam to suit their understanding of modern times. Such people do not argue from the sea of knowledge we find in Islamic books.

It is argued by ‘new age enlightened scholars’ that there is no punishment for drinking in Islam. They argue that since the Prophet ﷺ did not prescribe the number of repetitions for beating, it does not become a part of Hadd (punishments ordained by Allah) but only Ta’zir (punishments ordained by the Islamic State).
